Before the appointment

  • Reports from therapists and doctors
  • Your own description of your child: strengths, needs and what helps
  • Notes from any previous meetings

Questions to ask

  1. What support does my child get now, and is it working?
  2. Should we ask the council for an EHC needs assessment?
  3. Who will give advice for the assessment?
  4. How will communication, feeding, medical needs and personal care be supported?
  5. How will staff be trained, for example in AAC or seizure care?
  6. Is the support in section F specific and measurable?
  7. When is the next review, and how can I add my views?
  8. Where can I get free, independent advice?
