Step 3 of 4

Claim the support you're due

Most families of a child with PURA syndrome can get some financial and practical help. It's worth claiming early, because forms take time.

DLA (Child Disability Payment in Scotland) isn't means-tested and can open the door to other help, such as Carer's Allowance and a Blue Badge.

You can also ask your council for a needs assessment for your child, a carer's assessment for yourself, and short breaks. For nursery and school, talk to the SENCO about support and an EHC plan.

Things you might do

  • Start a DLA or Child Disability Payment claim
  • Check Carer's Allowance and Carer's Credit
  • Ask your council for a carer's assessment and its short breaks offer
  • Look at grants from charities such as Family Fund
