Understand PURA syndrome

You don't need to learn everything at once. Start with a couple of trusted, plain-English sources and come back to the rest later.

PURA syndrome (also called PURA-related neurodevelopmental disorder) is a rare genetic condition caused by changes in, or loss of, the PURA gene on chromosome 5. Every child is different, so the best guide to your child is your child's own team.

Families often find it helps to read one overview, write down questions as they come up, and take them to the next appointment. Your child's doctors can explain what the genetic report means for your child.
